Annual South County Turkey Trot is Nov. 28

South County Turkey Trot

Lenny Jones, creator and organizer of the 2nd Annual South County Turkey Trot is proud to announce that this year the event will benefit the San Luis Obispo County Food Bank Coalition and be held in memory of Christine Allen of San Luis Obispo.  The Trot will take place on November 28, 2013 - Thanksgiving Day morning - and will begin and end at the Pismo Beach Pier.

After hosting Operation Surf Central Coast 2013 the week of Oct. 3-9, the Amazing Surf Adventures team has no intention of slowing down as they gear up for their inaugural Operation Run, an 8-mile fun run on Veteran’s Day, Monday, Nov. 11 in support of all military members, past and present.

Archery on the Central Coast

There’s something inherently romantic about archery. Perhaps it’s the simplicity, the fact that a stick and some string can send an arrow flying clear across a field. Or maybe it’s the bridge archery creates between modern men and women and our ancient ancestors, people whose lives depended on their ability to shoot accurately. For Riley Royce Smith, a local marksman and archery instructor, the most enjoyable aspect is the Zen-like peace he gets from the repetitive act of mastering a craft.
