SLO Op Climbing brings high adventure films & activities to area

SLO Op Climbing

Full week of films and activities through Oct. 7 celebrates the great outdoors.

Last year’s benefit screening of Banff Film Festival’s Radical Reels tour in San Luis Obispo was such a success for SLO Op Climbing that they decided to expand one night of films to a full week of films and activities celebrating people in the outdoors from Sept. 30 to Oct. 7.

A joint venture between All Out Events and SLO Op Climbing, both run by Kristin and Yishai Horowitz, the event comes at a time when people start to wrap up their summer adventures and start thinking about winter.

Luffa Love: locally-grown luffas and herbs provide natural relief

Is it a sponge? Is it a plant? Just exactly what is a luffa and what are the benefits of using one? A visit to The Luffa Farm in Nipomo for a tour is just the thing you need to do to learn all about it.

“They’re sponges, right?” That’s the question most people ask when they come to the farm. And the answer is no, they are not sponges like the ones that live in the ocean. A luffa is a plant. Proprietor Deanne Coon and her family have been growing luffas for more than 20 years.
