Annual Wine and Roses Bike Ride

The 11th Annual Templeton Wine & Roses Bike Ride will take place October 6, 2012. Start and finish is at the Templeton Community Park, and riders can choose between a 30-mile, 62-mile (metric century), or 100-mile courses. Proceeds from the ride will benefit these local organizations: the Community Action Partnership Adult Day Center, the North County Humaine Society, and the Templeton Community Library Association.

This ride has sold out for the past three years, so interested participants are encouraged to register online as soon as possible. The registration fee includes a rider gift, rest stop refreshments, BBQ chicken, tri-tip, or vegetarian lunch, souvenir wine glass, Wild Horse Winery wine, and a rose for the ladies. Extra meals can be purcahsed for $10.
Prior to the ride, Wild Horse Winery will host their annual "Bike Bash" catered dinner. The Bike Bash is limited to 125 guests and tickets must be purchased at the time of registration.
The ride first began in 2002 and was originally named the Spring 50's Bike Ride. That year, 50 riders enjoyed a scenic ride through Templeton and the surrounding areas. When they returned, they were delighted to find that in addition to the wonderful tri-tip BBQ lunch, Marta Zielonko, the Chamber president at the time, had brought several bottles of her own wine and purchased roses for each of the women riders. The wine and the roses were such a hit, it was decided to rename the event the Wine & Roses Bike Ride.
